Development Blitz!
Wow! I’m taking a breather from the current sprint to catch up on what I’ve done so far. I have a lot of new stuff that’s sort of half implemented, but we’re looking more like a game now. There’s an intro scene, and the save file saves the entire game state, instead of just the station. I also made some new rockets and spacecraft, and they look great in my opinion!
I sort of want to revisit some of my older designs now, since I’ve been getting better at Blender, but it’s more important to work on new stuff, so I’m trying to hold back on that.
I got the science system set up! Well, a really basic one at least. Keeping it simple for Phase Zero, but I have ideas for later. Right now, you just pick a goal, and any science work your ’nauts do goes towards the goal. Eventually, though, I want specific experiments to go towards specific goals, I might split things between engineering and raw science, might introduce a “breakthrough” system where specific science discoveries unlock at random… but that’s scope creep for now. 😇
You can make a Moon station! Still working on specifics, but the idea is you connect the new Aquarius core to the Advanced Ion Propulsion Element in low-Erua orbit, then you can transfer it to the Moon as one unit. After that you can start sending payloads and crew with the fancy new SLS-style rockets.
New spacecraft, Rigel and Courier. Rigel is just my take on the Orion spacecraft. Courier is an original design, partly inspired by the work-in-progress Orel spacecraft and the Cygnus spacecraft. Both are capable of going to and returning from the Moon.
I still have some time today, and another weekend coming up, we’ll see how much further I get!
